Haier Biomedical Cytotoxic Drug Compounding Robot: AI Ensuring Healthcare Worker Safety and Precision in Medication Preparation

With the rapid integration of AI technologies into healthcare, more efficient and precise medical services are becoming a reality. At the China International Import Expo (CIIE), Haier Biomedical highlighted its core product within the “AI + Smart Medication Full-Scenario” solution portfolio — the Cytotoxic Drug Automated Compounding Robot.

Designed specifically for the preparation of cytotoxic medications such as antitumor drugs, the robot integrates high-precision weighing systems, advanced sensors, and a 3D AI vision-based automatic recognition system. Operating within a Grade 100 clean, fully enclosed environment, the robotic arm automatically performs key steps including drug dissolution, aspiration, and dosing. By automating the entire compounding workflow, the system effectively addresses two critical challenges in chemotherapy drug preparation: ensuring healthcare worker safety while maintaining exceptional compounding accuracy.

Recently, the robot was successfully deployed at a leading Class A tertiary hospital in Suzhou, where it has been put into clinical use. The system significantly reduces healthcare professionals’ exposure to hazardous drugs while ensuring the precision, safety, and consistency of chemotherapy medication preparation.

In addition to the Cytotoxic Drug Automated Compounding Robot, Haier Biomedical also presented its “AI + Smart Medication Full-Scenario” solution. Built on the proprietary large-model foundation IncGPT, the solution deploys IncGPT‑Med, a domain-specific large model designed for intelligent medication management.

By establishing a cluster of intelligent agents covering pharmacy inventory management, automated drug replenishment, medication recognition, rational medication guidance, and intelligent sorting, the system significantly reduces the extensive manual operations and verification steps traditionally required in pharmacy workflows.

Building on this foundation, the company further leverages a multimodal robotics platform to enable digital and intelligent upgrades across the entire medication workflow, including outpatient and emergency pharmacies, inpatient pharmacies, and IV compounding centers. This integrated solution helps healthcare institutions reduce labor costs by 50% and lower error rates by 50%, delivering safer and more efficient medication management.

Recently, the National Health Commission of China, together with the National Development and Reform Commission of China and three other government departments, jointly issued the Implementation Guidelines on Promoting and Regulating the Development of “AI + Healthcare” Applications, providing clear policy direction for the adoption of AI in the healthcare sector.

Against this backdrop, the “AI + Smart Medication Full-Scenario” solution developed by Haier Biomedical has already matured into a widely adopted platform, currently serving more than 500 hospitals across China while accelerating its expansion into overseas markets.

Since 2025, the company has successively established strategic partnerships with leading medical institutions, including RAM Healthcare Group in Thailand and S.I.S Can Tho International General Hospital in Vietnam, further advancing its global footprint in smart healthcare solutions.
